We Take A Look At The Best Convertible Cars of 2021

Feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face this summer!

As the weather begins to warm up, we’re hoping for another warm and sunny summer this year, but to truly have fun in the sun you need the right convertible to provide you with the best weekend drives. So, here at CarCliq, we’ve come up with what we think are the best convertibles of 2021; from the MINI Convertible to the Porsche 911 Cabriolet.

MINI Convertible
MINI is recognised for their ‘go-karting’ feel when handling the car and with the addition of the wind in your hair, this simply adds to the effect. When you take the roof down, it folds quickly and efficiently into the rear of the car. However, it does impact the boot space and rear legroom somewhat, so despite the MINI Convertible seating 4, we’d say it’s probably better to treat it as a two-seater instead.

Jaguar F-Type
When it comes to style, the Jaguar F-Type ticks all the boxes and has got to be one of the trendiest cars on the road. There are several engine options to choose from with a range of bhp but whichever you decide on, the F-Type feels fast and sounds incredible. As for feeling the wind in your hair, the roof folds away speedily and with the wind deflector in place a motorway journey is impeccable.

Mazda MX-5
You’re destined for a great drive regardless of the roof being up or down with the Mazda MX-5, it offers buyers all the sports car thrills without breaking the bank. Known for being one of the world’s best-selling two-seater sports cars, it continues to be loved by British sports car fans. The fabric roof can be manually stored behind the driver and passenger but if you don’t trust the British weather - and rightly so -  then there’s the electric hard-topped MX-5 RF if you don’t fancy getting caught out by the rain.

Porsche 911 Cabriolet
If you’re after a true comfort-focused cruiser, then look no further than the latest Porsche 911 Cabriolet. Not only is it extremely fast with top-class handling, the 911 Cabriolet feels even more luxurious than ever, so much so that you won’t want to take it out just for a Sunday drive - you’ll want to drive it every day! Sadly though, this four-seater convertible isn't particularly practical, the luggage space is limited to just 132 litres while rear-seat passenger space is somewhat restricted due to the dimensions and engine layout – but it could always double up as extra luggage space if you don’t need the seats!

Mercedes C-Class Convertible
With a long-lasting reputation for building sophisticated convertibles, Mercedes continues to maintain their title with the C-Class Convertible. There are plenty of engines to choose and while the AMG range is great if you enjoy the thrills of the road, we’d recommend choosing one of the smaller engines, as this not only guarantees you lower running costs but also better driver comfort.

Audi TT Roadster
No ‘best convertible car’ list would be complete without the iconic Audi TT – it’s been popular for so long! This convertible has always been one of the most stylish in its class and the latest TT Roadster, with its agile performance and fun driving characteristics is perhaps the best version yet. Not only is the Audi TT fun to drive but it has a great interior and would certainly keep pace with the Porsche 718 Boxster the only downside is that it’s a two-seater.

We simply cannot wait to enjoy those rare summer rays again – particularly after the coronavirus pandemic thwarted everyone’s summer plans last year and what better way than to enjoy it in true style than with one of the best convertibles of 2021!
