TVR Chimaera

1998 TVR Chimaera 4.0 Midnight Blue metallic with Magnolia leather upholstery and black top. First debuted at the 1992 Earls Court Motor Show, the Chimaera is an open-top roadster and uses the same backbone chassis and Rover V8 engine derivatives as the TVR Griffith. The car was intended to be the long distance tourer of the range and as such was longer, more spacious and had slightly softer suspension than its sister car. First registered on 30th October 1998 and supplied by Portfield Sports and Classics of West Sussex. It has covered just 52,000 miles from new and has been very well maintained throughout its life. Presenting very well the paintwork catches the sun beautifully and the upholstery showing minimal wear complimenting the dark blue fitted carpets. A comprehensive file accompanies the car with a huge portfolio of bills invoices and old mot certificates confirming the low mileage as correct. Also with the car is the original leather dealer wallet, handbook and stamped service book. The car has had some lovely upgrades which include 17 Multispoke split rim alloy wheels with matching tyres. A Sony CD player with remote is a lovely period feature in the car as are the metal stalks. In 2021 the car was entrusted to Sussex TVR who went through the car with all the following parts replaced, front lower and upper suspension wishbones as well as rear upper and lower suspension wishbones, front and rear anti roll bar drop links, front lower and upper wishbone ball joints, steering rack gaiters, all rubber fuel hoses, front and rear Gaz Gold shock absorbers and coil springs, front and rear brake pads and discs, front brake caliper hoses, handbrake cable, fuel pump and ignition relays, lambda sensor, drive shaft gaiters, rear exhaust mount, engine drive belt and carry out 4 wheel alignment, the total of this work coming to £5000. After purchase we sent it to a well known TVR specialist who has been through the car, they replaced the fuse box, recored the radiator, fitted a new rev counter and rectified some wiring issues with a copy of the invoice in the history file. On test drive the TVR doesnt disappoint there either, the V8 engine is eager to please and pulls very well whilst emitting a fantastic chorus from the twin exhaust pipes, this car is a joy to drive and a real head turner Upon sale a fresh mot will be applied.
