1978 Triumph Dolomite Sprint – LHD – 37,300 km – Remarkable Survivor, Registration: HBJ 178T. First registered in 1978 and delivered new to Switzerland. This is a genuine left-hand drive Dolomite Sprint with a fully warranted 37,300 km (approximately 23,200 miles) from new. The mileage is confirmed by the British Leyland Passport to Service, which contains six service stamps, the last at 31,259 km in 1983, followed by an oil change in 1984 just before the car was taken off the road and stored indoors. The original oil-change reminder card still hangs from the mirror. The Triumph Dolomite Sprint holds an important place in British motoring history. Launched in 1973, it was one of the first mass-production cars to feature a 16-valve cylinder head, designed under Spen King and Harry Webster. The 1998cc engine produced a lively 127 bhp, making the Sprint one of the quickest compact saloons of its day. Period road tests praised its combination of performance, ride comfort, and refinement. It was a fast family saloon that felt genuinely sporting without being harsh, and it earned a strong reputation in touring car racing. Survivors with their original body structure are now very hard to find. This example retains predominantly factory paint and has never been welded. Only the front panel has seen a light re-lacquer, and a small area under the rear bumper has been refinished. Paint thickness readings support its originality, and the structure is exactly what collectors and enthusiasts hope to find. Aside from the exhaust, the shell has not been welded. Imported to the UK in 2025 and recommissioned with care to preserve factory feel. Work included ignition system renewal, new dampers, new brake shoes, pads, cylinders and hoses, fresh fuel hoses, a reconditioned radiator and other small items to ensure reliable running. The original Sprint alloy wheels have been refurbished and are now fitted with new Uniroyal tyres. The factory Dunlop spare remains in the boot to preserve authenticity, though it is not recommended for road use. Although the car is tax and MOT exempt, it will be sold with a new MOT for peace of mind. It is also ULEZ compliant. The car is accompanied by its British Leyland Passport to Service, original BL key pouch and the original oil service reminder card. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Dolomite Sprint that has not been restored or rebuilt, simply preserved. The originality, interior atmosphere and factory driving feel are genuinely special. Cars like this do not appear often and are becoming increasingly sought after. Come and see for yourself, any inspection welcome! We take all major cards, consider part exchange, and can even deliver to your door. For further details, please dont hesitate to get in touch.
