Hello and welcome to the sale of this incredible Ford Transit. , Previously supplied by ourselves just over a year ago to the last private collector, we were very happy to buy it back again this year with just 600 more miles on the clock. Purchased new from Edwards Ford of Salisbury in 2002, by a gentleman with small specialist book trading business, he clearly cared for it very well and used it very lightly, covering an unbelievably low 60k miles in 22 years! It was originally registered in the business name, then later in his name, then his wifes name. Incredibly it has 21 local Ford main dealer stamps in the service book, with supporting invoices, the most recent being January 2024! It has just flown through a new MOT with no corrosion issues to report. , I have had the entire van professionally valeted and machine polished, and the original steel wheels professionally refurbished in metallic silver. The paintwork appears largely original, with a deep shine and no heavy marks or damage. The wheel arches, step areas and panels are free from the usual corrosion often associated with older commercial vehicles. Under the bonnet is equally as clean. The cab interior is absolutely superb, with no rips, tears or bad odours. The seats, trims and dashboard are all free from damage and are very much representative of the mileage. There is a radio fitted, other than that the simplicity is refreshing with wind up windows and not much else to go wrong! In the rear it still sports the original ply lining, which is in lovely clean condition having never carried anything more than a few books. , On the road it drives exceptionally well, with positive brakes, power steering and good suspension with no untoward knocks or bangs. The renowned 2.4 turbo diesel engine fires up straight away, ticks over nicely and produces adequate power with smooth delivery through the 5 speed manual gearbox. It features none of the modern and troublesome DPF or Adblue systems found on newer vans, making it a simple ownership prospect. , Classic commercial vehicles are always popular and this would no doubt make a perfect addition to a nostalgic fleet, or would make a superb camper conversion.
