1955 Jaguar Mk V11 M 3.4 Manual overdrive LHD Saloon. , The Mark VII M was launched at the British International Motor Show in October 1954 superseding the previous model Mk V11. Although the engine continued with the same capacity and 8:1 compression ratio, the introduction of new high-lift cams increased the amount of power to 190 bhp (141.7 kW), giving the car a claimed top speed of 104 mph (167 km/h).[The four-speed manual gearbox remained the standard fitting but was now constant mesh and fitted with closer ratios, and optional overdrive was available Larger torsion bars were fitted to the front suspension. Flasher-type traffic indicators replaced semaphore arms.[Distinguishing the Mark VII M from its predecessor, circular grilles over the horns were installed below the headlights in place of the former integrated auxiliary lamps, which were moved slightly further apart up-rated and mounted on the bumper. Both bumpers now wrapped further around the sides of the car. New large tail lamps with built-in reflectors now incorporated direction indicators. New headlamps were given Le Mans type diffuser glasses. , Both variants of the Mark VII had a very successful racing career achieving many race victories, and in 1956 an M version was driven to victory by the famous Irish rally drivers, Ronnie Adams, Frank Biggar and Derek Johnston in the gruelling 2,500-mile Monte Carlo Rally averaging a very commendable 59.2 mph and ahead of the venerable Mercedes 220. , This beautiful and impressive Jaguar, is one of approximately only 100 remaining on the Uk roads It was originally supplied new 15th February 1955 by Charles Hornburg Jaguar.
