This lovely little Austin Maestro has come to us direct from a small local private collection and enjoys a very low ownership of just 1 previous keeper. The very low mileage is believed to be genuine as the vehicle was purchased new in 1988 by a gentlemen in Birmingham who kept it garaged throughout its life. He stopped using it in 2006 and it was left in the garage. On his passing in 2012 the ownership passed onto another family member who kept it in the same garage unused. In 2017 that family member also passed and it was then purchased by its current owner who put it into trade. The vehicle was MOTd in 2017 and then put into storage until 2022 when it was then taken to MOT along with a full service and inspection. In addition to this it had a new alternator and water pump along with some welding repairs to the rear wheel arches. It has been used very little since then and has been kept in storage only coming out very occasionally. It received a new MOT in August 2023 with no advisories and is now offered for sale. It is in totally original condition throughout with only the addition of a Toyota alarm which is disabled. The bodywork is in very tidy condition for its age with one or two blemishes on the front wheel arch and rear bumper and there is a small bit of corrosion on the lower part of the rear screen. The engine starts well and once warmed through settles to a nice idle. It drives well through all four forward gears and reverse. Recent new rear brakes and little used front brakes means it pulls up straight and smooth. The interior is in very clean and presentable condition and the lack of wear confirms its low mileage. It does have a sagging headlining which is to be expected but the material is all in one piece. If it was to be used regularly we would suggest a new set of tyres as the current ones, whilst have good tread they are old and not ideal for regular use. Once the butt of many a joke, the Maestro is maturing nicely in to a lovely, useable everyday classic which raises many a smile and story where ever it goes and will only increase in value.
