Porsche 718 Cayman GTS

Sharper than the Cayman S, but is it Porsche’s best sports car?

In an age when most of its competitors have been absorbed into larger manufacturers, Porsche remains a staunchly — and profitable — independent maker of high-performance sports cars.

Today, they have the likes of the well-known Boxster or the sleek Carrera, but it’s something about the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS that is pretty hardcore. That could be down to it being one of the finest sports cars in the market at the moment, or because it is a sweet – sharp – ultimately entertaining car to drive. So, yes, it’s perfect for UK roads!

The main feature that will surprise most, is how comfortable the car is; despite its driver chassis setup, the GTS deals with rutted roads and pitted surfaces with aplomb, even in its firmer suspension settings. It is also combined with the same amazing and feelsome steering, making it in our opinion more rewarding than its Boxster sibling.

Looking at the exterior of the car, it’s curvy in all the right places. The rear is clearly contoured and looks wide and more imposing. This impression is then reinforced more, by the tinted front light units, the front spoiler and the outer airblades in black. The Bi-Xenon main headlights making it the future bright for this model for sure and the optional LED main headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) offer excellent safety combined with an extra sporty finish. In length, it’s approximately 4,393 mm and in height, it's 1,286mm.

As a standard, the model will include the 20-inch Carrera S wheels with a dynamic 10-spoke design with a satin black finish to help provide solid road holding. Although, there is a range of different 20-inch wheels available from our range of personalisation options.
The interior of this model perfectly integrates the driver into it, as Porsche has used proven motorsport material, alcantara to make sure there is a good grip. The design inside is designed the way it is to ensure everything is within close reach: such as on the steering wheel rim and gear lever/selector.

They provide an optional GTS interior package which makes the new 718 GTS models even more visually sporty and more succinct due to the impression created by the accent colours of Carmine Red or Crayon in the interior.

Overall, although this model is pricey with the starting price of £59,866 if you have the money to splash out on this motor and love the thrills of driving, we think the Porsche Cayman is right for you.
