SEAT UK Smashes All Time Monthly Sales Record

SEAT putting other car manufacturers to shame.

September saw 7,739 cars registered, giving the Spanish company a 2.15% UK market share. (Source: SMMT) Both are monthly records.

The magnificent result comes hot on the heels of SEAT unveiling two brand new models at the 2012 Paris Motor Show: the all-new Leon five-door, due to hit the road March 1st, 2013, and the new Toledo hatchback, in showrooms from December 1st.

The 7,739 cars registered in September comfortably eclipses SEAT’s previous monthly record, set in March 2011 with 7,251 sold, for a 1.98% market share.

SEAT’s previous best September registrations figure was set in 2007, with 6,851 cars sold for a 1.63% market share, while its best September in terms of market share was last year, with 2.0% gained thanks to 6,612 cars sold.

Despite SEAT UK posting a company record 1.86% market share overall in 2011, its 2012 year-to-date sales are significantly ahead: 30,438 sold against 28,853 this time last year, and an overall year-to-date market share of 1.88%. Those numbers mean the company is on course for another record-breaking year, both in sales and market share terms.

The increase in year-to-date market share shows that SEAT is not only outperforming itself – it is outperforming the overall market too, in terms of percentage growth.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the news that September was a record month for us – though not entirely surprised,” said SEAT UK Director Peter Wyhinny. “Our range of cars has never been broader, every one mixing bold, Spanish design flair with outstanding value and practicality, so offering something for everyone – from the stunning Mii city car, right up to the multi-award winning Alhambra MPV.

“With the new Toledo due to land on customers’ driveways this year, a car that provides more practicality per pound than virtually anything on the road today, we’re well on course for yet another record year at SEAT.

“And next year will be even more exciting, with the addition of the all-new, third generation Leon. Aside from being the most advanced and desirable car we’ve ever produced, it will be available in three distinct body styles for the first time ever, broadening its appeal hugely. Truly, SEAT is entering into the most exciting time in its history,” he added.
