New Presenters For 2019 Top Gear Series

Will Flintoff and McGuinness improve the show?

To date, the famous well-known motoring programme Top Gear began back in April 1977 with the first host being Angela Rippon. This then was revamped in 2002, with the country’s favourite trio: Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond presenting the show till 2015.
When they left the show, the UK were stunned and saddened, but they were soon replaced with Rory Reid, Matt LeBlanc and Chris Harris to make sure the programme carried on.

Earlier this year, LeBlanc announced his departure from the show after finishing four series with the team due to the demands of the role and how much it keeps him away from his friends and family. But Rory Reid would continue to host the extended show – Extra Gear with Sabine Schmitz.

Today it has excitedly been announced both Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff will be the new presenters for the 2019 Top Gear series, confirmed by the BBC.
BBC also have mentioned that the comedian and former England cricket captain will be co-presenting with former racing driver Chris Harris – so we’ve been told filming will commence for the 27th series in early 2019.

The two new additions to the Top Gear team have racked up some experience on the TV screen, as Flintoff has been a team captain on Sky’s A League of their Own, whilst also currently hosting the award-winning show Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy for BBC Radio 5 Live.

Then McGuinness took off with his career with popular shows such as Take Me Out and working with Lancashire comedian Peter Kay on Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.

McGuinness and Flintoff are expected to earn around £500,000 each for their initial two-year contract.

McGuinness commented on his exciting arrival saying: “Getting the Top Gear gig is a real honour and I’m thrilled the BBC have given me this opportunity. To be hosting a show I’ve watched and loved from being a small boy is beyond exciting.”

Whilst Flintoff added: “It’s not often you have the chance to do both of your dream jobs, but I’m lucky enough to say I will have. I’ve always been passionate about cars and I’m so excited to be joining the Top Gear team.”

Harris made a statement about his latest two co-stars: “They’re both brilliant, natural entertainers – and their mischief mixed with the most exciting cars on the planet is sure to take the show to the next level. My dream job just got even better.”
To conclude, do you feel that these two big personalities will bring life and humour back into the show? Whilst also delivering great expertise for their fellow petrol-head audience. The show is set to air 2019, so we guess we’ll have to wait and see – but we’re ready for it!
