Jaguar
The E-Type Jaguar is quite simply one of the best cars in the world ever to be manufactured which makes it a very desirable car to own. This is a RARE gem as it has only had 1 registered keeper from new and has an amazingly low mileage of 1736. It is highly unlikely that another original E-Type Jaguar with such low mileage will ever be available to purchase again. This particular car is finished in Regency Red with a Beige Leather interior and has an aluminium-trimmed centre instrument panel and console. The car was supplied new by G Blizzard Motors of Chorley Wood and registered as KAR 66G by Hertfordshire County Council on 9th May 1969. The car was last taxed for use in 1977 and the owner at that time commissioned marque specialist Alan Collins to refurbish/recommission it after it had been in storage for 24 years. However, the work was not completed until 2009 due to erratic payments from the owner. We have a copy of a handwritten summary of the work carried out on the car totalling at £26,345.61 which included brand new wheels and tyres. It also had a full stainless-steel exhaust, electronic ignition fitted and full interior trim taking the total spend to around £30,000.00. For whatever reason, the owner never asked for a radio to be fitted, so it still retains its original blanking plate, speaker grilles and aerial bung. It also retains its original matching numbers engine and an all-synchromesh 4 speed Manual Gearbox2. After the recommissioning works were completed the car was MOT tested and passed on 30 April 2009 with a recorded mileage of 1,728 so was ready to go back on the road after an absence of 32 years. However, the car was not used and was stood yet again, after only putting a further 5 miles on the clock. We also have the original ‘Production Record Trace Certificate’, chassis 1R35256 and heritage certificate. The Jaguar E-Type was launched at the Geneva Auto Salon in March 1961. Not only did this car steal the show but every headline too. Enzo Ferrari described the Jaguar as ‘the most beautiful car in the world’! It also showcased the new independent rear suspension design that went on to be a hallmark of Jaguar models for four decades. The E-Type was based on Jaguar's D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three years consecutively beginning in 1955 with its novel design principle, with a front subframe carrying the engine, front suspension and front bodywork bolted directly to the body tub. The cars 4.2 litre engine produced power of 265 bhp;198 kW with a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h), sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration with times of around 6.4 seconds, with maximum power being reached at 5.500 rpm. It featured a monocoque construction, disc-brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, independent front and rear suspension which distinguished the car and spurred industry-wide changes. All E-Types featured independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front ends, and four wheel disc brakes, in-board at the rear, and were all power-assisted. The Coventry engineers spared nothing with regards to high automotive technology in braking. The 4.2-litre's block was completely redesigned, made longer to accommodate 5 mm (0.20 in) larger bores, and the crankshaft modified to use newer bearings. Other engine upgrades included a new alternator/generator and an electric cooling fan for the radiator. Sadly, Jaguar stopped making the E-Type in 1975 meaning almost all remaining models would have probably done 100k+ miles, making this stunning car very rare due to its low mileage which makes it even more desirable. Each and every car supplied by Monument Garage comes fully valeted, serviced to manufacture specifications (if required), 12 months MOT and 3 months warranty (if applicable).
